I only spun out twice... and I'm just super glad there weren't microphones in the helmets.... I screamed just about ever turn... My friend Josh got started(thankfulkly after i had gone, otherwise I might not have gone...) but the breaks on his go cart went out on the first turn!!!! He won! haha, he came into the pit stop afterwards squealing and going crazy... it was so scary... haha but sooo much fun!!!
After that, we went shopping in an outdoor mall! It was so much fun just walking around Denver and just people watching! :) and plus I got a startbucks!
Then we went to the Rockies game, they played the Padres! (the rockies lost... not terribly shocking...)
Todays theology class just kinda blew me out of the water!!!
We talked about how to study the Bible and well... just about everything!
Here are a couple of things I learned...
Basic Bible Statistics.
-Best selling book of all time
- 92% of Americans own Bibles
- 37% say they read the Bible once a week
-14% Say they study the Bible each week
-14% say they are involved in a Bible Study Group
-50% of adults interviewed could name any of the four Gospels of the New Testament
- Just 37% of those interviewed could name all four
-Only 42% of adults were able to name five of the Ten Commandments
-Just 70% were able to name the town where Jesus was born
-and Just 42% could name him as the person who delivered the Sermon on the Mount.
and just the biggest thing was just...
Not ever reading the Bible out of habit and
because you "have" to,
Don't pick and choose the verses you want. (don't be topical)
Don't magically assume that every single verse applies to your life somehow.
A fellow intern quoted her friend
"Sometimes it doesn't mean it applies to you right here, right now, sometimes.. it just means God is Great."
Don't try to find the "hidden meaning" in the verses!
And also. STOP TAKING THE VERSES OUT OF CONTEXT!
And alsoooo again... Heresy isn't always an out right rebellion against God, it is sometimes a lack of understanding.
I am so terribly sorry if I offend some people. But... hey stop reading if I am:) I could go farther. But I shan't! :) Thanks for reading! :)
